The Love That Should Never Have Been: Pt 5 I Watched You Today.
I watched you today.
A number of times I just sat and watched you doing whatever it was you were up to.
I watched you stroke your mustache between your forefinger and your thumb while you read whatever it was on your screen. Watched while you sang as you drove, while you worked, while you kept looking at your phone as you left a VM, while you joked around with Jimmy and John… Just observed you being you throughout the day.
It made my heart smile.
It’s hard to explain to people when they ask why we’re not together because everything I say, the smile on my face, the look in my eyes, all express pure love and often they are left with a response which leaves them more unclear than before. It doesn’t matter that they don’t understand, honestly, it makes me laugh a little to see the confusion on their face.
You bring me such immense joy.
Knowing you know me like almost no one else does, knowing who you are and what you stand for. Knowing you are one of my people and I get to be one of yours makes life just a little bit easier. Because you are in my life I feel invincible. There is nothing I won’t attempt knowing you have my back, knowing you are not only in my corner but literally actively attempting to help me make my dreams come true and vice versa.
There are very few people on this earth who I can laugh so deeply with in one moment and cry with in the next. Who, with the simple scrunching of their nose can make me feel childlike giddiness. Hearing happiness in your voice, or seeing the smile lines beside your eyes bring light to my world. Who you are and your presence make me a better person, push me to my growth edges, and make it all seem so easy.
As I am the golden breastplate protecting your heart, so you are my bow.
Whatever the target; when you are around I can rely on you to help me generate the power through which I will be able to reach and hit the mark.
The day comes to a close as I sit and observe you once more; your intensely focused gaze is coloured orange by the glow of your computer screen and I can’t help but smirk a little at our quirkiness.
You make my world a better place.
